Get To Know Me

I am Kimberly Haines. I am a 33 year old wife and mother of two children. On September 3, 2019 I opened my own accounting office in Chelsea, MI called Haines Accounting. Prior to becoming an accountant, I spent 10 years working as an emergency dispatcher (911) for Jackson County, MI. While working as a dispatcher, I took classes at Jackson College and later transferred to Siena Heights University, where I studied accounting and business administration.

In 2015, I accepted a position with a small accounting firm in Jackson, MI. Since that time, I have worked with numerous small to medium-size businesses. These include sole proprietors, limited liability companies, partnerships, S-corporations, C-corporations, and non-profit organizations. I have experience handling all stages of the business cycle, from start-up companies, to mergers and acquisitions, and closings. In addition to working with different entity types, I have worked with businesses in several different industries. These include but are not limited to, real estate, insurance, marketing, construction, automotive repair and towing, chiropractic care, primary care physician, landscaping, restaurants including bars, household services, excavating, caregivers, manufacturing, communications and technology, consultants, and finance.

While a majority of the last four years was concentrated mostly towards small businesses, I still worked with hundreds of individuals on individual tax preparation and tax planning. This includes Schedule Es, Schedule Cs, investment income, foreign earned income, and non-resident earned income for multiple states across the US.

In 2018, I passed the enrolled agent 3 part exam and became an enrolled agent through the Internal Revenue Service. This allows me to represent tax payers, just the same as a CPA or attorney. Throughout my experience, I have become proficient with Quickbooks desktop and online, Creative Solutions (no longer supported), Drake tax software, and Ultra-Tax software. Programs that I currently work with or have, but may not be proficient in them include CS Accounting, and Sage Accounting.
